News of the World has reported that Mike Ashley will be appointing Alan Curbishley as NUFC manager should negotiations not work out between Ashley and the prospective buyers. The report states that Mike feels that NUFC would be a better prospect with a manager in place.
Most BPL fans know of Alan Curbishley, with him being the former manager of Charlton Athletic and West Ham United. He resigned from West Ham at the start of September 2008, right before news came out of Keegan's dismissal as NUFC manager.
We have to take this article with a pinch of salt, as last week it was announced on News of the World that Alan Shearer will be taking over as West Brom's manager, and that is incredulous to say the least. At least this week's report keeps common sense in the frame of the article, and it is actually possible that Alan Curbishley will be our new manager.
Should Curbishley be appointed as our manager, it would mean that Alan Shearer will be shut out of the post for NUFC manager. We hope that whatever the case is and whoever the manager is, we hope that either Mike Ashley or the new owners will appoint a manager quickly, as time is ticking away to the start of the new Championship season.
