Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias - On their way out?The Independent reports the yet undisclosed American consortium is favourite to purchase NUFC and a preliminary agreement can be announced this week. The management at NUFC has been preparing its accounts, possibly for a quick takeover.
So far, there have been 4 parties that are known to be bidding for NUFC - Freddy Shepard led consortium, Singapore-based Profitable Group, the American Consortium and a S.Africa consortium. We await good news from the management at NUFC, and that means Mike Ashley selling up. Should the American owners come in, we hope that they would be like Randy Lerner, the current owner of Aston Villa, who has done an excellent job as the owner. We need an owner like him after battle scarred years of Mike and Freddy.
On a side note, the report also mentions that Derek Llambias had his BMW repossessed by a local car hire firm. Hopefully that will be the last car he will be getting in the North-East.
