The Chronicle has reported that Newcastle will be taking a trip west to Ireland, and probably facing off against Shamrock Rovers and Portadown, and it is believed that the matches will take place a week before the opening friendly against Darlington. This means that it is likely Newcastle will head off to Ireland by the 5th of July. Worringly, Chris Hughton is the most likely candidate to take charge of Newcastle during that period of time should no manager be appointed
With preseason starting on July the 1st, this gives him approximately 10 days to prepare the team for the first preseason friendly. Furthermore, if Mike Ashley does not want to appoint a manager before the sale of the club goes through, it would mean that it will take approximately a month before a manager is appointed. This would most likely result in 2 different methods of training, and more importantly, and insufficient time for the new manager to figure out the first team.
We hope that a new manager will be appointed soon, and we wish the team all the best as they return from their summer breaks for preseason training.
