Xisco wants to prove himself

Both the Sun and the Daily Mail have reported that Xisco has absolved himself from any blame to do with Newcastle's relegation
22 yr old Xisco

In the report, Xisco has said that he feels that coming to Newcastle was the right decision.

"When I signed from Coruna I thought I knew what Newcastle was - an historic team with great fans, players and a lot of money."

"But there were many problems. First it was like a small snowball, then the problems rolled and rolled, got bigger and bigger and then when it was time to wake up it was too late. We did not have time to recover."

What Xisco has said is a reflective image of what has happened at Newcastle since the sacking of Sir Bobby Robson. We have been lumbering from one problem to another. And with Mike Ashley siding with Dennis Wise instead of Kevin Keegan, it just shows the incapability of our owners.

The only reason why Xisco should take blame for Newcastle's relegation was him taking up £50k of our wage packet. And the person who should have taken all the blame for this should be Dennis Wise, who went over Keegan's head to sign Xisco for £5.8 million and paid him £50k a week.

We do hope that Xisco stays and proves himself, at a reduced wage of course, and he has stated that he wants to play, be it for Newcastle or another team.

"I now have to wait for a call to see if they want me there next season or if they want me to go on loan. It has been a difficult season and I don't want to repeat it. I cannot afford another year like it. I need to play."

We do hope he stays if he is willing to reduce his wages, and we do hope he can get some playing time to prove himself. However, if he is unwilling to reduce his wages, we should try to sell him, although right now there doesn't seem to be any demand for our wage wastrels.
