The Mail has reported that Keegan met up with Leon Crouch and Matt Le Tissier as the latter two try to take control of Southampton. Crouch has stayed silent about the alleged meeting, and that has sparked rumours that Keegan will take over the role of manager at Southampton.
Southampton entered administration in February, and were relegated to League One at the end of last season. Due to their outright relegation, Southampton will start League One on -10points.
Southampton is a classic example of a club having a huge fan base, and a huge rivalry down south, but are in the doldrums of League One. We do hope that Newcastle look at the examples of Southampton and Leeds and not make the same mistakes, that means shipping out as many players as possible to reduce our wage bill, and getting Mike Ashley out, Alan Shearer in because that will definitely boost our season ticket sales.
It's a shrewd move by Southampton, with Keegan having led Newcastle to promotion to the Premier League in 1992-1993, Fulham out of Division 2(the current League One) in 1998-1999 and Man City to the Premier League in 2001-2002. If there is anyone that has the knowledge of getting clubs promoted, it would be Kevin. Say what you want about him, but he has proved that he has the skills for it.
A return for Keegan instead of Shearer perhaps?
