Michael Owen has to seek lesser goals

Times Online has written a great article on Michael Owen, our former captain.

Our Former Captain, Michael Owen

Owen, whose contract expired this summer, has attracted the interest of Aston Villa and Everton. In his article, Matt Dickinson stated that Owen's chances of a recall to the England national team ranked alongside Alan Smith and Joey Barton. Alan and Joey have a total of 20 caps between them.

Does Owen deserve such criticism? Most Newcastle supporters feel that Owen has disappointed greatly as a captain and as a striker. But one question remains: would Owen have scored more if he received the provided service from our midfielders? As such, did we bring him down?

I can say that I am happy that Owen is out of the club, because he did a really bad job as the captain of NUFC, and I am happy because with the wages that we save, we would be able to purchase more players. We wish Michael the best in his further career, and hope that the wages that we save would be put to good use.
